Debussy and Bartók were heavy influences on a few string figures on the album. Today we were talking about Beethoven op. 31 no. 3 in relation to the structure of a new song we're writing. But usually it's more subtle. We listen to everything we can get our hands on, and it all influences us whether consciously or not.
Evan – river otter
Josh – pet: dog; non-pet: armored polar bear
Tyler - saber tooth tyler
Kieran - 3 way tie between kangaroo, koala, and dingo OBVIOUSLY
Geoff - lorax
Josh: Eating vanilla heath bar crunch ice cream while watching a well scripted TV show (because TV is better than movies these days).
Tyler: Doing life with close friends who have a passion for growth and a relentless joy for experience and activity.
Kieran: Hammocks, mostly.
Evan: Animals of all sorts.
Just so you're warned, tonight's show's going to be a little weird: we're playing 2 songs as part of a mostly classical program. But please come say hello afterward – maybe we can hook you up (no pun intended) with tickets to our next one.
Thank you! We had a wonderful time as well.
I've got most of them tabbed out on my computer at home – I'll see about posting some when we're back from tour.
We each have our own quirky tastes in music, so our influences come from all over. Some favorites we share, though: Bowie, Talking Heads, Tears for Fears, the Third Eye Blind self-titled, late Talk Talk, Ennio Morricone.
We do sell t-shirts and headbands (http://on.fb.me/FSoEXF) at our shows. We're getting some new designs and should have it for sale on our website pretty soon. Anything in particular you'd like to see?
