What kind of shoes does everyone wear? what size?

Miracles of Modern Science responded on 05/18/2012

When we're not wearing our matching Uggs...

Josh "Hipster" Hirshfeld: New Balance 574s, size 11.5

Geoffrey "Preppy" McDonald: Boat shoes of various kinds, 11.5

Tyler "Skater" Pines: Vans Era, 10.5

Evan "Hippie" Younger: none, or size 11 moccasins if I must

Kieran "Slacker" Ledwidge: PF Flyers or Chucks, 10.5. Or whichever shoe I can find made by the youngest children of the largest company.

Q

Josh - English/creative writing
Kieran - international relations / music performance minor
Geoff - music
Tyler - economics / music performance minor

Q

Josh and Kieran what kind of pedals you you gys use for mando and violin? I am not sure if you even use any but on several of the songs it sounds like you do
Thanks!

Miracles of Modern Science responded on 05/17/2012
A

Josh uses a Boss DD-3 delay, an Ibanez Tube Screamer, and an Electro-Harmonix Micro POG octave pedal. On the album we mixed his amp sound with a dry acoustic sound.

We recorded Kieran totally acoustic (and added a few effects here and there at the mixing stage), but live he sometimes uses a delay pedal (Behringer I think). He also keeps a Boss RC30 an a POG2 in his rig, but he doesn't use them much in MOMS.

Q

If you're looking for a House Concert venue in Northwestern Ohio, let us know--- when are you hitting the road again?

Thanks! Where specifically? We plan to tour again this summer – we'll let you know more details soon.

Q

When are you coming to California?????

Miracles of Modern Science responded on 05/03/2012
A

Soon! We're figuring out the details. We'll keep you posted.

Q

Are you guys fans of the band The Receiving End of Sirens? The song 'Bossa Supernova" the melody or interval pattern really reminds me of the song "The Rival Cylce" by The Receiving End of Sirens.

Miracles of Modern Science responded on 05/03/2012
A

Hadn't heard of them, no. I just listened to "The Rival Cycle" and I'm not sure I hear the similarity – which section are you talking about?

Q

You guys are awesome. I'm a high school bassist near Princeton. I'll try to see you in June, & after the show. Evan, any tips on singing and playing bass at the same time? You're like my hero.

A

Aw, thanks! Keeping a solid rhythm is the trickiest and most important part (I definitely don't always succeed), so I recommend lots of metronome practice and if you're practicing with a band, trying to sing as rhythmically as possible so your bass part stays steady.

Q

Found you guys on Grooveshark and was blown away. Can you come to Montreal? Please? Also, any chance of posting any tabs?

Miracles of Modern Science responded on 04/27/2012
A

We'd love to come to Montreal. And we plan to put out a collection of scores and tabs pretty soon. We'll keep you posted!
